Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Acceptance
These terms govern your use of BookHalo (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
2. Service
BookHalo is a Chrome extension that processes pages you can view in Kindle Cloud Reader and creates OCR text and a reference PDF for personal reading notes and study support.
3. Requirements
- You need desktop Google Chrome or a compatible Chromium browser and an Amazon account with lawful access to the book.
- Paid features require an active subscription. Current prices and limits are displayed in the extension and on the BookHalo website.
- You may use the Service only with content you are lawfully permitted to access.
4. Prohibited uses
- Redistributing, selling, publishing, or publicly sharing output created with the Service.
- Using the Service to infringe copyright or other third-party rights.
- Attempting to access books you cannot already view, bypass account or purchase restrictions, or misuse the Service as a DRM-removal tool.
- Overloading, disrupting, reverse-engineering, modifying, or redistributing the Service.
5. Copyright and personal use
Rights in the original book content remain with the relevant rightsholders. BookHalo is intended only to help you work with books you can lawfully access for your own reading notes and study. You are responsible for complying with Amazon's terms, the terms of any AI service you use, applicable copyright law, and other applicable rules. Outputs may include a traceable Export ID to discourage unauthorized sharing.
6. Billing
- Payments are processed through Stripe.
- You can cancel a subscription at any time and continue using paid features until the end of the current billing period.
- Except where required by applicable law, payments for digital services are non-refundable.
7. Disclaimers
- OCR accuracy is not guaranteed and varies with image quality, language, and page layout.
- Kindle Cloud Reader changes, regional restrictions, browser limits, or third-party outages may interrupt the Service.
- To the extent permitted by law, BookHalo is not liable for losses arising from use of the Service.
8. Changes or termination
We may change or discontinue the Service. When practicable, material service changes will be announced in advance.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Updated terms take effect when posted on this page unless otherwise stated.
